What is Veriff?
Veriff is an internationally recognized age-verification service, and we use them to confirm users are over 18. Age-verification will only be required of visitors in locations that legally require it. Here are some details about their process.
To get age-verified, you’ll click a link that takes you to the Veriff website. You'll scan their QR code with your phone or computer camera. You'll upload a photo ID and face scan. Once that process is complete, you will be brought back to this site, and restrictions will be lifted. This process is free.
If you have a profile here, this site will remember your verified status so you won’t ever need to do this process again. Without a profile, you might need to re-verify through Veriff occasionally, but you won’t have to go through their signup process again.
We use only Veriff’s photo-ID/face-scan option because most age-verification laws require matching a real government ID; AI-based estimation isn’t normally legally accepted as proof of age.
For fraud prevention and legal reasons, Veriff does keep your ID and photo on file until you delete the account (or after 3 years of inactivity). None of the info you send to Veriff is ever shared with us—we only receive confirmation that you’re over 18. We do not receive compensation in any way from Veriff.
Unfortunately, if you don't have a government ID, you won't be able to get age-verified for this site. Checking the physical ID (as opposed to technology such as AI age estimation) is the requirement for most governments.
Age verification is separate from producer verification (our green checkmark), and to upload adult content you still must be producer-verified.
